Apple Pandowdy

  1. Pare and slice apples and arrange in a pie plate. Sprinkle with cinnamon, drizzle over molasses, and dot with butter.
  2. Make biscuit dough with flour, baking powder, salt, shortening, and milk.
  3. Roll out dough to ½" thickness. Cover apples and cut gashes in dough.
  4. Bake at 375°for 30 minutes.
  5. Serve hot, cutting out squares of the biscuit to use as a base for the fruit. Serve with cream flavored with nutmeg, hard sauce, or whipped cream.
