Bonbon Cookies

makes 20 to 25 cookies

  1. Blend butter, sugar, vanilla, and food coloring.
  2. Sift flour and salt, and blend into butter mixture. If dough is dry, add 1 to 2 tbsp cream.
  3. For each cookie, wrap 1 tbsp of dough around a candied or maraschino cherry, dates, nuts, or chocolate pieces.
  4. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  5. Bake at 350°for 12 to 15 minutes, until set but not brown.
  6. Cool, then dip tops of cookies in icing. Decorate each cookie with chopped nuts, coconut, or colored sugar.
