makes 2 to 3 dozen cookies
Nut Filling
- 1ΒΌ cups walnuts, ground
- β cup sugar
- ΒΉβββ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- 2 tbsp water
- ΒΉβββ tsp maple flavoring
Mix well.
- 1β cups AP flour
- 1Β½ tsp double-acting baking powder
- ΒΌ cup butter
- ΒΌ cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp almond extract
- β tsp salt
- 1 egg
- Sift together flour and baking powder.
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Blend in vanilla, almond extract, salt, and egg.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients, mix well.
- Roll out on floured surface to β ". Cut with a star-shaped cutter.
- Place a teaspoonful of filling in center of each star. Bring 5 points upright. Starting at the base, pinch sides together so points stand up, allowing filling to show.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheets and bake at 400Β° for 7-10 minutes.
