Steak and Onion Pie
- 1 lb round steak, cubed
- ¼ cup bacon fat
- 1 cup sliced onions
- 2½ cups hot water
- 2 cups diced potatoes
- ¼ cup flour
- 2 tsp salt & pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- dash ginger
- dash allspice
- 1 cup flour
- ½ tsp salt
- ⅓ cup shortening
- 3 tbsp cold water
- Mix ¼ cup flour, salt, pepper, and spices. Dip meat in flour mixture.
- Brown meat in bacon fat. Add onions. Cook until golden.
- Add water and cover. Simmer 45 minutes.
- Add potatoes and cook for 10 minutes.
- Make crust with 1 cup flour, ½ tsp salt, and shortening. Slowly add cold water.
- Turn into a pie plate and cover with crust.
- Bake at 450°for 25 minutes.
